Marlene Bronstein Dubin
Painting is all about the "process" for me - the physical act of creating something on a bare canvas. My joy is in the "making" of art.
Combining information and experience, I work quickly, with great energy, action and concentration... not intellectualizing but painting from instinct and gut feelings, often without a definite subject in mind.
Using crayon, charcoal, pastel, and paint, scribbling, building layers, dripping, scraping, then reworking, the first sketchy lines and underpainting are all incorporated, and often remain visible when finished, translating into rich texture, life, depth, form, pattern and movement with imaginative, elusive imagery and solidity.
Entranced by the lusciousness of color and its possibilities, my palette can vary greatly from painting to painting.
